Packing Light Using Luggage With Wheels
One of our biggest tips to people using luggage with wheels is that they reduce their luggage to just a carry-on item whenever possible. This practice will help reduce the amount of stress and time that it takes at the airport as you can avoid both checking in your luggage, as well as waiting for your luggage upon arrival. Here are some tips on how to reduce your travel load to just one piece of luggage with wheels.
First, don't be afraid to reuse clothes on your trip. If you need your clothes to be incredibly clean, you can always try hand washing them in your hotel's sink and leaving them to dry in order to minimize the space they take in your bag. For the clothes you bring, bring outfits that mix and match well so you can diversify your outfits while you're out, while still keeping the number of items to a minimum.
Second, pick clothing that is made from thinner materials. Microfibers are just as warm as wool, but will take up significantly less room in your luggage. Also, consider rolling your clothing rather than folding it as this helps to avoid wrinkles and ensures your clothes can fit in tighter spaces.
And of course, minimize the amount of things you need to pack. If you can, wear your coat to the airport, thereby removing the added item from going into your suitcase.
If using your luggage with wheels as carry-on, be sure to look up the regulations on what is allowed. You can't bring more than three ounces of liquid toiletries onto the plane. Also, when you do bring these types of items, wrap them in plastic bags to ensure that if any leak, it doesn't soak all of your clothing in cologne or lotion.
